Hello lucky visitor to our website!
Thanks for stopping by – we have something really nice for you today!
You clicked on a very good link – you will now learn how to prepare granola at your home – really easy and super crunchy.
You don’t need any kind of special cooking skills in order to prepare it.
The names Granula and Granola were registered trademarks in the late 19th century United States for foods consisting of whole grain products crumbled and then baked until crisp, in contrast to the, at that time (about 1900), contemporary invention, muesli, which is traditionally neither baked nor sweetened.
Granula was invented in Dansville, New York, by Dr. James Caleb Jackson at the Jackson Sanitarium in 1863. The Jackson Sanitarium was a prominent health spa that operated into the early 20th century on the hillside overlooking Dansville. It was also known as Our Home on the Hillside; thus the company formed to sell Jackson’s cereal was known as the Our Home Granula Company. Granula was composed of Graham flour and was similar to an oversized form of Grape-Nuts. A similar cereal was developed by John Harvey Kellogg. It too was initially known as Granula, but the name was changed to Granola to avoid legal problems with Jackson.
The food and name were revived in the 1960s, and fruits and nuts were added to it to make it a health food that was popular with the health and nature-oriented hippie movement.

Why are pecans important for us?
Just five pecans contain around a sixth of the recommended daily allowance for zinc, which is vital for the functioning of white blood cells that fight bacteria and viruses, including cold and flu.

As I was saying, it’s easy preparing the granola – you just need the right ingredients and a baking tray.
And then when you have it ready, you can store it in a mason jar and keep it on your shelf for a long time. Anytime you need a quick breakfast – you can prepare yourself a bowl of coconut yogurt, fresh fruits, maple syrup and a couple of spoons of your homemade crunchy vegan granola.
And here’s the recipe for our favorite nutty granola.
- 2 cups of rolled oats
- 1 cup raw pecans
- 1 cup raw hazelnuts
- ½ cup sunflower seeds
- ½ cup of almond flakes
- ½ cup raisins
- ¼ tsp of sea salt
- ¼ cup of almond butter
- ⅓ cup of maple syrup
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- Add the almond butter, coconut oil and maple syrup to a sauce pan and let them all combine and warm up together - it takes about 1 minute
- Put all the other ingredients to a baking tray, except the raisins, and pour over the almond butter mixture. Mix nicely and bake in the oven, set to 180 C, for about 15-20 minutes, stirring it halfway through the cooking process.
- When the granola is ready, mix in the raisins and let it cool on the tray.
- When it's completely cooled down, you can transfer it into a jar or just eat it straight away.
Have a lovely day – see you soon!
