I will now introduce to you my latest idea – vegan chocolate brownie cake with nuts and oranges. It’s so sexy and delicious! The first time I tried vegan brownie I couldn’t believe how tasty it can actually be. After all, the products are all natural and super tasty – and that’s all you need to get a tasty dessert. You are using pure cocoa powder so there is no need of using the milk chocolate that is full of many other ingredients that you don’t know the names of. Adding nuts gives your cake a nice crunch and extra flavor.
I will call it The Golden Cake!
Oranges were known as the fruits of the Gods. They were often referred as the ‘golden apples’ that Hercules stole.
In my memories, this time of the year is when I eat a lot of oranges. They are always very tasty in December and January. I really like them when they are more sour than sweet. Super healthy fruit, high in fiber and once peeled you can feel its aroma everywhere! Baking your brownie base changes the atmosphere in your house as well – it smells divine!
Let me now guide you through the whole process.
- 250 gr plain flour
- 60 gr of pure cocoa powder
- 200 gr sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 250 ml water
- 200 ml vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 20 gr walnuts, 20 gr hazelnuts, 20 gr almonds
- 1 big orange
- 50 gr of dark chocolate (vegan) (for a shiny finish)
- cinnamon powder
- Mix all the dry ingredients ( push them through a sieve first, so you get rid of any lumps )
- Add the water, oil and the vanilla
- Mix until well combined, add the nuts and transfer into a baking tray
- Bake on 180 degrees, for 25-30 minutes
- Leave the base to cool down and then melt the dark chocolate and spread it on top
- Finish the cake with the orange slices and some cinnamon
After having a slice of the cake, you will understand why exactly it’s called The Golden Cake. It’s not just the pretty face 🙂
